The twist with Vicki, not Katherine, being the one walking around Mystic Falls, plotting and conniving, was indeed brilliant. It actually made up for Nina's absence as either Katherine or Elena. Of course, both will be back in style for the grand finale, so that helps. As for the wedding...I very nearly teared up. I'm man enough to admit that. :)

It sucks that Melinda Tsu Taylor keeps dropping the ball in small ways, but at least we don't have to deal with her anymore. The finale is, after all, written by the two original showrunners and directed by one of them. I imagine it's going to be spectacular and tie everything together very nicely, rather than engage in some BS backstabbing of us loyal viewers. :P

Well, I wouldn't go that far for me... I just miss my precious cupcake face Elena and the baddest bitch of all that is Katherine. Oh heck, I just miss Nina!

Yeah, and I honestly don't know if that was part of why I didn't love this one as I had hoped too.

Good on you... and I don't blame you, it was so, so beautiful!

Yeah, it really does. And it's a shame because other than her errors, she writes some great episodes... it's just those mistakes for die-hard fans are so glaring. As for not having to deal with her anymore, I actually had that very thought myself too!

Hey, I totally miss Nina in all her beauty, too. I'm just saying that I was pouting over them not showing Katherine's face, but once they revealed it was actually Vicki, I thought, "Oh! Okay then, that makes sense ( ... )

I wanted to get to this before the SERIES FINALE!!!!

Ah, gotcha! Makes sense.

As for the return of Nina's characters, some idiots actually think Katherine will ruin Elena's reunion with Damon by stealing the dark blue dress and pretending to be her.

Really?! If this were NOT the series finale, I'd think that was possible, but I can't see it happening NOW. Not enough time. (Now if the finale was 2 hours... AS IT SHOULD BE, then yeah, but not a regular-sized episode.)

ETA: Or not! LOL! But, yeah, Damon wasn't fooled once he held her in his arms!

As if she could ever fake Elena's joy at seeing him again - her coldness in the middle of Season Five, anyone? I'd be surprised if Katherine even shows up on-screen before Elena does.

True, true.

Oooh, that reminds me - this is complete speculation on my part and not ( ... )

Thank you for the wonderful recap.

Caroline telling Stefan that she would remember this moment in a hundred years… for the both of them.
Yes, this touched me the most, too.

to have Damon talk about all that Katherine led them to and *not* mention Elena as a positive was not only an oversight, out of character for Damon, but it was also a direct contradiction of Damon's "death"bed speech to Elena
Exactly. I'm glad it wasn't just me that found this part funny.

So a friend was wondering why Kelly had that bloody nose and was vomiting, as well as Vicki. I figure it's because Hell is dying without Cade around to power it.I doubt that, because remember Kai had the same problem? So I think it's rather a "normal" problem ghosts(?)/zombies(?) experience when leaving hell ( ... )

- Poor Matty now being an orphan (or did Peter survive?); but oh Kelly, how could you do all of this

Considering his parents, he's better off as an orphan, but yeah, when we last saw Peter, he was still alive. As for Kelly... ugh, she always was a terrible mother, though, right?

- I actually loved Ric's speech about forgiveness.

Maybe I'll be able to appreciate upon rewatch after Damon has his happy ending, but right now, ugh, I just can't get past what a dick Ric has become.

-> Ric reminds me a lot of Stefan s1.

I can see why some might see that, but Stefan was never an outright dick to people on a consistent basis. He had his moments, but Ric has pretty much been non-stop Ric-dick since he came back to Damon, to Stefan, to Tyler, treating Bonnie like she's not worth saving and turning on Caroline on a dime. Stefan was NEVER that bad.

(I actually thought that this 'game on' came from her)Nah, I'm pretty darn sure that was Vicki too. In retrospect, knowing that it's Vicki, it's obvious it's her from the haircolor. Vicki has just ( ... )

So, so brilliant!

So I wasn't the only one to complain about the first 10 minutes. Good to know.

Good, it wasn't just me either! LOL!

When Damon started his speech about "the woman who hated him at first..." I thought he was talking about Caroline. And only when he said something along the line of "mother of a daughter" I was like Oh, he's talking about Liz.

Yeah, so not representative of Damon and Liz's relationship. Ugh!

Maybe they will exchange Bonnie's and Elena's roles? So that Bonnie dies, Elena comes back, someone will put Bonnie under a sleeping spell and in the meantime try to figure out how to bring Enzo back, and after Elena has lived her life, Bonnie can come back to Enzo, who will be waiting in the wings. (no spoiler, pure speculation). But Enzo is dead-dead-DEAD! He can't come back now. I mean, I guess if they ring the bell 11 times again, but even then these souls from Hell just can't ( ... )

I don't think that Bonnie will be dead/dead. If she is, that's REALLY going to suck!

So true - but if that happens, you will have something for your post-series-rant, LOL.

In order for her to jump into Elena permanently (instead of Elena being able to fight through as she had been doing), Nadia and a random Traveler did a spell over Katherine's body (in that cave Stefan and Damon went too, the ones near the Lockwood Mansion) and they had to destroy her body in order to do so.

Ah, that was it - thank you!

Have a great finale evening! (Being in Europe I can't watch live but my friend and I decided to have a finale-party Saturday night.) Talk to you soon.

Well, I don't want to actually add to THAT list!

Thank you! Enjoy your own TVD-party! Aaaah! SO SOON!

Have you seen this deleted scene of Jo/Kai ? anonymous March 20 2017, 14:10:26 UTC

Curious about your thoughts :)
Btw I'm waiting for the Finale TVD Post.. I was so done with the show after 6 season, I didn't like the Delena human ending, I thought they should've stayed vampires. And I thought a lot of stuff was just because the Nina departure. And most Bonnie/Damon in the beginning was tell not show..
But I continued watching, even though many times I wouldn't pay attention like most of the Heretics stuff, Bonnie/Enzo. I don't like Julie Plec. Had to say it xD
I went through all of your TVD posts since season 1 ;p I got a lot of comfort from it, knowing someone felt the same way about many things and I loved reading a lot of insights I wouldn't think of. :) So waaiting for the Finale post :-)

That was a really good scene (love Chris Wood), but I see why they cut it. It humanized him too much. Kai is more fun when he isn't emo, and that was actually the best thing about him as a villain... that he didn't have the emo of his past become a THING. He mentioned it once or twice, but had no problem admitting that, regardless, it was still a sociopath.

Ah, see I had no problem with D/E human but then I've been expecting that ever since 2.12 for Damon, and frankly, as soon as Elena turned. I always saw that as how they're story ended. And, well, if you've read my posts (and you said you have), you know that I never stopped loving the show. EVER! LOL!

I'm glad you've enjoyed my past posts. I'm still working on the finale post. It is going to be LOOOONG though and is taking time.

I haven't deleted any comments so I'm not sure what you're talking about. And I certainly wouldn't delete a comment just because it had a link or a deleted scene link either way so I don't know what's going on.

ETA: I just saw that for some reason the comment was listed as suspicious and I hadn't gotten to it yet.
