Aren't actors bound by contract? Can she just leave in the middle of well planned series that was - I would guess - planned around her character as well? I'm not a big fan of Rebekah but it is sad that this would be the end of the character? She could definitely mean more still on TVD.
It does all seem kind of hinky. I'm hoping that she's jumping over to TVD and that's what's going on, but who knows. It does all seem very weird. I absolutely adore Rebekah, but I actually like her A LOT more on TVD than I do on TO where I feel she's been terribly wasted. If this is some bait and switch that is going to get her as a series regular on TVD, I'd be beyond thrilled, but I'm not holding my breath. Garsh, to get my beloved Rebekah on TVD, to get my Matt/Rebekah explored in truth? I would LOVE IT SO HARD! But, yeah, I have no idea, but this is just a weird situation.

So much YES to this. I love Rebekah without condition, and I think she'll be a lot better off in Mystic Falls, where there's one guy who adores her despite the wariness of his friends, than in New Orleans, where she has to look over her shoulder every minute and deal with a self-righteous, paranoid psychopath of a half-brother.

Ditto. Screw Marcel - no, actually, don't. He can screw himself just fine. :P
It was so weird how she was so much more awesome on TVD. It was like on TO, she was just the pathetic, whiny, sister who had this half-assed epic, twu wuv with Marcel that didn't jibe with her backstory on TVD at all (hello, what about her and Stefan in the 20's, during prohibition that we saw on TVD that couldn't have happened much after the recent flashback stuff on TO where she was supposedly sooooooooooo in lurve with Marcel?!?!?) Just so, so, so lame. The only reason that Rebekah worked at all on TO was because of Claire Holt and what had already been built up for the character on TVD. The writing for her on TO did the character no favors.
I do like Klaus, Cami, Davina and Elijah. My irritation with the ignoring of Elijah's story on TVD still rankles, but I overall enjoy the show. I think I might actually like the show more with Rebekah gone because she was SO MUCH BETTER on TVD than on TO so that irritation will be gone with her departure. :shrugs:
This is the only reason I think something shady is going on:
Neither Holt nor The Originals creator Julie Plec would comment for this story.
Why no comment from either? It's like, oh, I don't know, they want to keep something a secret maybe? So I can't help but have some hope that Rebekah will show up in some shocking twist in Mystic Falls. She just fits there SO MUCH BETTER!
I just don't know, conflicting stories coming out. Claire wanted to leave Atlanta, they had no more story for Rebekah (which, what?!??!), and no comment from Claire or Julie... it's just WEIRD!
