It was a great episode, yes. It hit all the pacing beats that the last episode missed, as well as having great character stuff. And naked Damon. All the Damon/Elena stuff was amazing. Love.

Going back to my original statement about how different I expected the scene to play out, I thought it would be sexy, a little funny probably with Damon confessing or heartbreaking along the lines of the final scene in last week's episode, but nope. It was flat-out creepy! When Damon said he liked to kill people, it was in his nature, who he was, it was just creepy as he's sitting there in a bubble bath, drinking wine. Finally, shutting her up when she made a statement that he didn't like (rather reminded me of him telling Caroline to stop talking when she commented that Stefan and Elena were so cute together in "Family Ties"), going for the distraction ... and then the bite. Seeing all of that gushing blood down her back, yeah, it was definitely supposed to be creepy. Job well done, show. :shivers:Yes, that scene was incredibly effective. The ( ... )

Love.Yup, and I keep going back to my idea that this was supposed to the episode we returned from the hiatus on. Having "The Descent" be the mid-season finale makes so much more sense. Rather an ease-down before the hiatus with the one-two-three punch of the cliffhangers at the end, with all three touching upon enough of the interest of viewership (what's Uncle-Daddy John up to? What will happen with Tyler and Caroline? What's gonna happen now that Damon is maybe bad again?) to sustain us and keep us going OMYGOD!what will happen before this episode with the boom!boom!boom! so much happening. Just makes so much more sense ( ... )

What we ended up getting in 2x11 is starting to bug me now (where it didn't before) because interesting things seemed to have happened off-screen (... did Bonnie and Jeremy hook up, as their giggly flirtiness of 2x13 implies? What? Actually seeing that would have been so much more interesting than half of what did happen in 2x11). And maybe it would have fixed the pacing if they'd ripped the plots of 2x11 and 2x12 apart ( ... )

DUDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS EPISODE. GAH. Naked Damon back and forth, great scenes with D/E, jjdsoajfoijfdfdjfkdfjljfd awesome fight sequence. That chick from TB! I thought she looked familiar! She was brilliant.

Who should also die in a fire is Brady, but, but, but, he's so hot, it can wait a bit, right?
FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought they might kiss, which was followed by 'Ew! Gross! She looks like his daughter.' And then I thought, wow, that gives a whole new meaning to the title, "Daddy Issues." But they didn't go there.
LIRL on this. EWWWWWWWW. I never thought of this. Hon, you and your soap opera loving ways. XD

I couldn't help but wonder if Nina Dobrev was going for the female title? LMAO!
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING OF.

This was about the girls! Their friendship. Their love! Stupid Stefan/Elena. Although, I will say I do get why the Stefan/Elena base are getting some good stuff in the next episode considering that this episode and the one before had barely any Stefan/Elena interaction, and was chockful of ( ... )

Whee!! Well, hello there!

Yup, I knew I remembered her from True Blood, and I knew what was going to happen with this character so I REALLY wanted to be remembering correctly that I liked her. And, yay, I did!!! She was awesome.

I never thought of this. Hon, you and your soap opera loving ways.

Come on, he was all being creepy-in-love with her there, she looks like his daughter, the title is "Daddy Issues," how could you not go there, LOL!

Re: The slumber party scene, yeah, a "thank you" would have worked, but then that's what she said mouthed to Damon and so that would have hurt as a shipper. Honestly, I just don't think *anything* was needed there between Stefan and Elena. It just seemed so, oh, let's throw a bone to the shippers because we had so much Damon/Elena in this episode. I dunno; it did bug.

But overall, YAY!! Flaily arms city!! WOOHOO!!

very episode should begin and end with a naked Ian Somerhalder.
YES!

Elena was so very much aware of the fact that another female was hitting on Damon.
I noticed that too, imho she was also a little bit worrie dbecause of Damon's attitude. She was not used to see Damno rejecting a woman so maybe who knows...

But having so much of it boil down to Elena, having Damon flat-out say, you're a distraction (and Andie being like 'yeah, cool, I'll be your booty call, you're hot!' was amusing*) just made my shipper heart do the happy dance.<
Yeah, I really liked the actress.I really enjoyed it too and the whole scene worked for me. It showed how much torn and multilayred Damon is. I didn't find the compulsion or the munching disturbing and I was a little bit scared of it when I read the spoilers ( ... )

I know (via spoilers) what happens vaguely with this character, that's why I said "kill or compel her" because if you don't read spoilers you don't know, so I was leaving it a bit open for the spoiler-phobes who don't know which way things are going to go with her. I do think that he decided to compel or kill her once he admitted that he kills people.

Such a FANTASTIC episode. :D :D :D

So i have a theory on the Isobel/John/Katherine vis-a-vis.

Isobel gave up her child because she was scared kid herself. She grows up, becomes enamored of Vampire, et all Mythology, starts doing research. She becomes expert in her field and eventually desires the Vampire life, and thanks to John, finds Damon, who's willing to turn her--this is what we've been presented about Isobel.

But, what if she became a Vampire on purpose, to help protect her doppelganger daughter? She was helping Katherine get rid of the Tomb Vamps for two reasons: Katherine's reason--she didn't want anyone to know she was still alive and if the T.Vamps were dead, Klaus might believe she was also dead. Isobel's reason--as stated to John at the end of 1x21 was that she didn't want any of them (any vampires) anywhere near their daughter. (As long as you have a Salvatore on each arm, you're doomed, she drawled ( ... )

And, one more thing: If Jenna is fixing Damon up with people who are more age appropriate for him, he can't be kissing Elena on the front porch. That was probably her motivation. *g*

Ha, makes sense. Especially since she did see them arrive together at the Grill in this episode, all 'no personal space'.

I imagine it's the one thing Alaric's honest with Jenna about--yeah, so, um, Damon's kinda, sorta, in love with Elena.

Jenna: What woman can I throw under the bus to keep him away from Elena? *looks around* Andie Starr, Action News! w00t w00t!
