How I wish I could write: In ethereal, dreamy prose that would capture the feeling of the fic I'm going for - think southern gothic, whisky, summer heat and cicadas ( Read more... )

I'm sure you can do it, hon. *waves pom poms like a twat* I was never cut out to be a cheerleader. ;-P

Don't put too much pressure on yourself, though...it's not the end of the world if you don't meet the deadline. You can always post the fic anyway, and sign up for one of the other million big bang projects. It'll be awesome if you make it, but don't beat yourself up if you don't. Sometimes the words just don't come.

I always think like that - I can't manage the wonderful lyrical writing that all my friends seem to achieve so effortlessly (unfortunately, I'm absolutely the least talented writer of all my friends which, on the one hand, is awesome coz I've got some seriously talented buddies who provide me with amazing fic all the time...on the other hand, it always shows how deficient I am with my own writing which is decidedly less awesome, lol) - but I'm sure you have your own wonderful style. I can't actually comment on that coz I have yet to read one of your fics ( :-O ) which is just ridiculous coz everyone is always rec-cing your fics to me...I just have such a huge to read list...right, I'm opening 'Drifting Through Doorways' in a new tab and reading it tomorrow. Done and done. I'm sure I'll be commenting on your wonderful writing style tomorrow...and being very envious of it in the process. ;-P

Good luck with the writing, hon... *takes away your pliers and hands you your laptop* That might be slightly more productive! Hehe ;-)

xx

Lol aw, the cheerleading is appreciated! I'm trying very hard not to pressure myself too much, but it's hard not to. I have the outline written down but fleshing it out from there is problematic. But you're right, there are other challenges out there (speaking of, I haven't even started my meant to be challenge yet, but that only has to be 1000 words and posted sometime in May, so I'm not freaking out about that quite yet). And yay! You're going to read "drifting"?! *hides* It's one of my favorites that I've written. I'm actually planning on revamping that one for publication just as soon as I finish editing my other original fic (the one that e-books tree tried to steal)! I'm actually quite behind on my reading as well.

Also, here's a quote that we should both probably try to remember. I don't remember who said it, but it's very true: "Comparison is the thief of joy". It's kind of funny because I actually make pins and magnets that have this quote on them! Really though, we should both take it to heart and try to stop comparing our writing to others and embrace its uniqueness. You are a very talented writer as well and I see your stuff being recced all the time! Easier said than done, I know. :p
