Laura was relaxing in one of the leather chairs on Colonial One; her legs tucked up under her. Her head was back as she rested her eyes for a moment.
Bill stood and watched her.
“It’s too quiet," she said. Her eyes remaining closed.
He chuckled and sat down across from her. “Maybe things are settling down.”
She cracked an eye open and looked at him. “You’re Admiral Optimist all of a sudden?”
“I’ll take it when I can get it.”
Laura laughed. It was so Bill.
She buried her feelings deeper.
