You Spin Me Right 'Round, Baby

"Right 'round."

I saw this optical illusion pop up on facebook not too long ago, but I didn't think it was legit. And now I do. The day I saw it on facebook, I could only see counter-clockwise. When I found it again just a few minutes ago, it was still counter-clockwise. But when I looked away for a sec to read more of the article and then ( Read more... )

Well, I take that as proof, based on the cheat image, that wearing underwear can ward off seizures in one's gawkers. That is, if you happen to be spinning around in a circle for no apparent reason.

I think I'll avoid partaking in the discussion of this particular illusion, since I just never have the patience for these things and end up p*ssed off if I don't "get" them quickly. I WILL say, though, that I like how the second and third set of arms behind Pete were perfectly choreographed to the vocals; I'd never seen the video before. And, ironically, when I started reading your entry, I was listening to "Abracadabra", of all things.

Well, the thing about most of these types of illusions is that some false sense of significance is placed upon if, when, or how you perceive them. Seeing as I found this randomly through facebook (as opposed to, say, a peer-reviewed article), it's safe to say it's nothing more than an interesting distraction, and not some indication of brain power (I'm dubious about that whole brain hemisphere thing as an indication of thought patterns, anyway). And yeah, I think the video is more thought-out than most might give it credit for. Plus, anyone who can wear an eyepatch with that much 'tude has my approval.

Well, to go along with it all, then, I must say that I see her rotating clockwise by default. I have absolutely no trouble seeing her rotate counter-clockwise, though.
