For real this time.
Today was a terminally boring day at work featuring long spans of doing ab-so-fucking-loutely nothing with brief interims of more nothingness. I think I had a total of three patients all day. Luckily most of the brainless people I work with were off today, so I did not have to think of various ways I could end their yammering about their sordid sexual exploits with their baby-daddies. I seriously do not need to know that my painfully stupid co-worker likes to have her pigtails pulled, her back spat upon, while being porked thoroughly in the rear from her on again, off again, unemployed, toothless, didn't graduate MIDDLE school, boyfriend thing who "prefers" not to bathe...
Usually she regales us with these tales while I am eating...
*sigh*
So, anyhow, I do actually plan on updating this thing daily. I will try not to dwell on the horror of my workplace too much.
Tonight
ignispura and I saw
Beowulf . Even though it has gotten rather mixed reviews I liked it. Yes, it definitely deviated from the Old English poem, but I think it did so in a good way. The film give humanity to Beowulf, shows him as a flawed hero, and as that, all the more believable. The CG motion capture has gotten much better. It was startling to recognize Anthony Hopkins as Hrothgar, and even more startling to recognize Crispin Glover as Grendel. The story was dumbed down for those who didn't have it drilled into them in high school English class, but it had enough of its recognisable elements for the people who knew the tale to be able to be excited when the movie faithfully reproduces items from the original that the rest of the crowd doesn't recognize. I think Neil Gaiman did a good job with coming up with a widely acceptable screenplay along with Roger Avary. I might be biased though, I pretty much like anything by Gaiman, and I thought Avary did a good job with Silent Hill.
Besides, the movie features Angelina Jolie wearing nothing but strategically placed gold paint. What's not to like about that?
Speaking of strategic though, during the Mano a Monster-o fight scene between Grendel and Beowulf, you tend to get distracted by all the oh so carefully placed scenery that just so happens to cover Beowulf's, if Queen Wealtheow's reaction is any guide, enormous wang.
Well, I will make that all for today as to not shock anyone. Off to find some squash to eat and see what the cat is yelling about.
