Day 23 ** A YouTube video
Just one?! Yeah, no, sorry, gotta represent my interests properly here. Especially now that the YouTube hath been restored to moi.
Our favourite Indian comedian and our favourite clip from said comedian. Because omg, so much truth rendered in such hilariously true terms. This is where we get our parodic Indian accents from. And man, this reflects the Indian migrant experience so well.

I wish I could share the absolute beauty and sweetness of Robert Mitchum in Heaven Knows, Mister Allison but since that's not on YouTube, it will have to be the absolute evil and terror of Robert Mitchum.
That chilling conversation in Cape Fear between Bowden and Cady starts at 4.00 into this clip, just what Cady's capable of. *shudders*

The creepiest scene in The Night Of The Hunter, hilarious as the movie is, starts at 8.16 in this clip and goes into the next one. And aaaaaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh Robert Mitchum!

And now for something completely different, the bit in The Disorderly Orderly where we see Jerome's neurotic identification empathy in action with Alice Pearce as Mrs Fuzzby. The limp and the "oh bile, oh bile." *fizzles with giggles* And bonus: this clip begins with the second hilarious Absolute Quiet bit that omg has me hiccuping and wheezing with laughter. Oh god, I love how Jerry uses sound and the lack of it.

Then right back to The Colgate Comedy Hour. I don't know when exactly this is but judging from the thinness of Jer, I'd say '52/'53 but of course I could be totally wrong. This is one of those apparently innocent utterly filthy songs that I still can't believe they got away with on American television. And what I love best about it is the moments he apparently loses his place or just couldn't be arsed singing along to the playback. Never fails to delight me on so many levels, omg poking holes in the fabric of performative make-believe that goes right back to
the record act.

And finally, because I just discovered the Bad tour Yokohoma and have damned near been liquefied with lust as a result, not to mention finally seeing the whole number of a performance I'd only caught snippets of on The Legend Continues. I've been yearning to see the whole thing since 1989! And holy god, the pelvic action, that great big shiny belt, the perfect curve of his hips, and that one foot skippety move that always thrills me no end.

Curious how this tour makes me appreciate even more the blend of dance and vocals on the Dangerous tour. Because, sure he sings every song on this tour --- and considering it was his first solo tour, I totally applaud that decision --- but the choreography is nowhere as electrifying as later and maybe it's sacriligious of me but I'd sacrifice some of Michael's singing to have him dancing. Because jesus fucking christ, can that man dance.

Wstfglbbbbllaarrggh. Still my most favourite performance of this number, aside from
the original Moonwalker version. Cos argh, the sharpness of him and the perfection of the camera angle for the lean and zomg the elegant eloquence of that walk at the end. The way he blends masculine and feminine is just ... man, the only other person I've seen do it so beautifully with just one simple elegant move is Bowie. Scept Bowie can't dance like Michael. Hee.
And yeah, when I came back to Michael a few years ago, this was the song that shocked me into realising how just listening to it made all the dance moves appear crystal clear in my head. Liek woah.
