Curious how fairly unfazed and stoic you can be when it's an older family member going into an operation ... but when it's a younger relative, you can find yourself startlingly distressed.
My cousin had two wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthetic today. And in true family style, we gathered around with plenty of jokes and sarcasm. The most hilarious thing though was from yesterday's first visit to the hospital she and I have been saying at regular intervals "Here we go ..."
And she said it to every hospital staffer who spoke to her, was the last thing she said as she went under, and the first thing she said when she came to. I was practically in hysterics when she told me.
