i'm happy you like the album that much and that curt's turning out to be quite a talent on his own. i *adored* him in the early days. what a pretty boy! i loved the way he looked in Everybody Wants to Rule the World -- those little round sunglasses, the ballet slippers! beautiful. but you're right that he looks fabulous now as he ages.
hey, did roland have anything to do with the production of this album, or is it all curt's?
He certainly is ... far far subtler than the blazing piercing light of Raoul.
Oh god, Vicki ... just goes to show how different generations we are ... the sunnies, the slippers, that terrible jacket, the AWFUL pink shirt, the stupid ponytail, every single one of those things make me want to scream and throw things about and set them on fire. God, how I wish we could just wipe out the Eighties in terms of clothes and hair. The music I can more or less tolerate. In fact, I'm fairly certain all those things have blinded me to the gorgeousness of Curt! ARGH!
None at all. That was pretty much the first thing I looked for in the liner notes. He is thanked but that's only in the general mentions. Interestingly enough, I was reading yesterday that the producer on Everyone Loves A Happy Ending, Charlton Pettus, is someone Curt hooked up with during the split who produced some --- or perhaps all? --- of his solo stuff, someone Curt introduced to Roland who then liked Pettus enough to bring him on as producer
( ... )
Oh god, it's the look of love!! I always notice all those things AFTER I cringe at those huge incisors between his pouty lips. He's not an attractive man, our Raoul. But he is beautiful, sharp edged soul-wise. :p
Heh. And you know what you noted: the complexion, the brown eyes, the lips. You find that exotic and I grew up with all that for the first fifteen years of my life ... totally makes me blink to hear them described as exotic.
It must be the same for you when I rabbit on about teal eyes and white skin and thin lips or whatever else fits a racial stereotype. *lol* Ain't people weird.
Yeah, you know I wondered the same thing when looking at Secret World pix. But then I'm just relieved he's cut his hair short and let the curls go unfettered. Much more naturalistic look and ergo more dignified. Perhaps that's what he's going for. Good motto, I say. *nods*
oh, i'm sorry -- this never occurred to me. i grew up in white-bread, lily-white southern indiana (are you seeing a theme?) and so i do notice that "exoticism." it's reflex, though by now i've lived in a much wider world for many decades.
Oh, no need to apologise. I do understand that and I did think pretty much that right after, no offence taken. I was just noting it as a matter of curiosity.

i remember you explaining about calling R. Raoul. it makes sense to me. he's exotic-looking and needs a more exotic name.

You think the buck teeth make him look exotic? :p

no, the complexion, the liquid brown eyes, those lush lips. does he have buck teeth? i never noticed...

i wonder if it bothers R. that curt is aging so beautifully while he is (ahhh, how gently to say it?) not.
