Singin' In The Rain, Don/Kathy/Cosmo,
And Write That Symphony by Cimorene.
I have absolutely no idea how I found this story. Pretty much just found it in my favourites and went "Woah, I know that quote!" I'm fairly certain I bookmarked the story based entirely on the title which is liek one of my favourite quotes from the movie:
"Well, I guess that means I'm out of a job. At last I can start suffering and write that symphony."
"You're not out of a job. We're making you head of music."
"Why, thanks, RF! At last I can stop suffering and write that symphony!"
Or something fairly close to that.
Read it a few nights ago and man, it is so note perfect that quite honestly it's now canon in my head. And has totally made me fall in love with Cosmo as a character in his own right. So beautiful. And so totally plausible.
If you've ever wondered what would happen to Cosmo after Don and Kathy got married ...
And now I collapse from exhaustion. Goddamned unrepresented applicants who think they can just cross-examine til the cows come home or the monitor falls out of her chair. Four tapes, three hundred and thirty-eight minutes of recording, nineteen pages of logging, three pages of painfully awful porn and another four inches or so of unevenly edged crochet, thank you!
*flumps*
God, I love Gene and Judy in Summer Stock. Totally underrated film, that.
