Remaining Aqua

So apparently, drinking "lots of water" isn't particularly beneficial.

Coincidentally, earlier this week, I noticed a lot of pimples on my legs, and realised it's probably because I'm at home now and I haven't established the same habit of drinking water regularly during the day as I do when I go to work. And almost as soon as I put some effort into drinking as much water as I did before, the pimples settled right down. I think it also affects whether I get headaches.

I'll note that for me, "not drinking enough water" is still about 2 litres a day, whereas "enough" is more like 4 litres. I'm a sweaty person, I live in a hot place, and I'm doing a fair bit of exercise. I know that I come back from my 80 minute runs (I only do those once a week) 2kg lighter than I set out, so it makes sense that 4l is a minimum on those days.

I've also noticed that sometimes I feel a kind of "sweet" hunger that I think is actually thirst. I also have normal thirst. I haven't worked out what the difference means. I think it has something to do with the fact that I didn't drink water as a child (I also lived in a much colder place) and so at least some of my thirst cues have become messed up.

The rest of you are of course welcome to drink, or not, as much water as suits you.

health, water
