my dad died when I was 13, and I was the only child in the family, and there were lots of older men around me, though I was too young for them at the moment. But this let me learn a lot about much older men (10 years is a starting point of "much older", I believe), and right now I'm not so optimistic about them. They can be really good friends, and good husbands, too, but the gap makes them more than unbearable sometimes. Unfortunately. imho, though love makes wonders, and I still believe...

sorry to know about your dad.

nobody's perfect, maybe that's the "twist" i was talking about.
if by "gap" you mean age and cultural difference, i'd say an emotional gap between me and my ex-boyfriend, who is the same age, was always way too vast, so, in this paradigm age doesn't really tell you anything. what it does tell you, is that, as I suppose, older men, in most cases, seem to be mature enough to let you feel a little careless and cared for, which is what, I think, we're looking for in this kind of relationship.
otherwise, there will always be houses burning and horses running )

sometimes cultural difference is not too vast and can be evn useful for educational purposes) yeah, age is not the decisive point, I guess.
As I once wrote - лишь одного мы не переживём - безумья одиночества вдвоём. it can happen to any couple, no matter what age they are
