So this is the quick fix these days, is it? You have a problem, hand it to someone else. Honestly? I would not have too much of a problem with this arrangement. As dearly as I love Verona, it is too much of a reminder...
But Russia?! Why did my aunt and uncle find it necessary to send me to one of the few countries whose language I know absolutely nothing of? I can say "yes". I doubt that will help me a great deal in a place where they believe straight jackets and pill-pushing are solutions.
From what I have observed so far, though, I understand that many of the inhabitants of this Godforsaken establishment are Americans. Or at least speak and/or comprehend English. I suppose that is a few steps up.
I still do not like it here. It is very cold. Even indoors, I have not yet removed my coat since I arrived. Please do tell me it gets warmer in here.
And I understand there is a dance tonight. I did not know madhouses mental institutions held dances. This seems like something Mercutio would have loved... He would actually have liked it here... In any case, I likely will not attend unless otherwise swayed to do so. It does not seem like a social gathering would be the proper place for a... "violent maniac" I believe were my aunt's favorite words after we lost Romeo.
...I am not as pessimistic as I am making myself out to be. In any case, I hope to meet some of you, and perhaps we should enjoy the company of one another. That is to say... become friends, I suppose. But probably not...
