middle ground

I think some of the best moments are those right before you fall asleep. The ones where you are lost in that middle ground of consciousness and sleepiness, of reality and dreams. I love the way the blanket feels especially. Wearing shorts is a good idea because then you can feel the rise and fall of the blanket, the small cracks and crevices which touch your legs. I love gathering the blanket up near my face and holding it like I'm holding a teddy bear. Everything in the world seems right. All is at peace and a quiet oozes in from the air to your brain. The blanket holds you in a delicate embrace which is only broken by the blaring sound waves of an annoying alarm clock. But the few moments before you fall asleep, those are perfection.
