Well now...

You know, I wanted to posted the whole thing... but since I still don't have the whole thing, ladies and gentlemen, here is the first (of some) part of a Doctor Who femmeslash fanfic I started writing months ago, continued last week and might just finish in time for the Christmas special ;) Also, it's the longest I've wrote for a long time, so I'm kinda proud of myself, even if the pairing is a bit... far fetched :P

Working title: Snuggles. (Because shadow_in_eden likes to indulge my slightly more insane side :P)
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing: Rose Tyler/Martha Jones
Warnings: None for now, unless you count the femmeslash bit.
Notes: I think this totally could have happened. Then again, I also think I think too much. ;P Let me know what *you* think, 'kay? :)

Once upon a time there was a Time Lord. He called himself the Doctor because helping people was just what he did. 'Helping’ didn’t usually mean fixing somebody’s sink or finding their lost puppies. It meant averting an intergalactic crisis or starting/leading/stopping a revolution of massive proportions. Grand problems that he could solve without getting to involved on a personal level.

For personal involvement he had companions, Rose Tyler and Martha Jones. Two sharp young women, each with a different approach to their traveling and both sensitive and plain good. Which is why the Doctor couldn’t believe how much they hated each other. Rose didn’t mind traveling with Jack, she picked up a bunch of strays on her own, she liked Donna just fine and actually asked her to come with them on their next adventure. But Martha just rubbed her the wrong way. Same went for Martha - Jack was great, random Torchwood members hitchhiking through the galaxies with them were fantastic company for her. And in complete contrast to that, just being in the same room as Rose put her on edge.

In his 900 plus years of life the Doctor never had to protect his companions from one another...

“Rose Tyler! Martha Jones!”

The Doctor’s angry cry was met with two identical scowls and a barked out reply of,

“What?!”

Martha Jones stopped tugging wildly at Rose’s hair and Rose Tyler momentarily ignored the unbelievable urge to press her fingernails into Martha’s cheek and scratch, just like she was doing a second ago.

“Both of you! Like five-year-olds! Stop it!” Of course, trying to get those two from arguing this way is more or less as successful as trying to make Jack stop flirting. And results in protests of monumental immaturity. The Doctor reminded himself once again that the umpteenth Jones/Tyler catfight is perfect blackmail material and he really needs to remember to record it sometime.

“But she nicked my lipstick!”

A kick in the shin.

“You lost it! And she ruined my jumper!”

A push against the wall.

“A slimy Slitheen ruined your jumper! And it was ugly anyway!”

A bite on the wrist.

“Same difference, you cow!”

Hair pull.

“Oi! Speak for yourself! One size up for you and you won’t make it through the door with that wide arse of yours!”

Martha’s retort was lost in the horrible bellow that shook the TARDIS’ walls. Both women looked at the Doctor, shocked to hear him give off a sound quite that loud and furious. Rose gulped.

Bollocks, she thought. So that’s the Oncoming Storm..

Just to be on the safe side, they both drooped their faces in hope of projecting a perfectly apologetic look.

“I have positively enough of both of you, Martha Jones and Rose Tyler.” The Doctor’s indignation made him look taller and stronger as he walked towards the now frightened duo. “You’re getting on my nerves, you’re destroying my peace, you’re loud and obnoxious and really not that funny anymore and I can’t even make you two go shopping together after the Riverwalk Market incident!”

A whimpering protest from Rose was cut off short by one icy look. Don’t even try, it clearly said. The “Riverwalk Market incident” was when the companions were too busy snipping at each other that they forgot tea and bananas, and there were some things the Doctor din't just let go.

“And because of that... both of you must leave.”

The words had just the right effect. Two pairs of confused and terrified dark eyes set on him and two mouths opened to shout in protest.

“Ah-ah! No. I’m doing the talking now. And you’ll shut up and listen.”

*

“I can’t believe he did that!”

Martha didn’t answer. She was pacing the room they were locked in and trying to think of a way not to murder the blond sitting on the white bed covers, already marking this side of the room as hers.

“I mean, seriously, who does he think he is?”

Martha just rolled her eyes.

“God, sometimes I wish Donna stayed longer with us,” Rose sighed. “She was insane but knew how to handle the Doctor.”

Martha snickered at the thought of the red-headed menace.

“More like slap him until he did what she wanted,” Martha threw herself on the other bed in the room, the one covered with a pale blue blanket. “Maybe we should try it. Scream at him until he gives us another week for a shopping spree again.”

“Nah... Donna had just the right voice for that,” Rose smiled fondly and added as an afterthought, “And an eye for bargains like a periscope.”

“Yeah...”

They went quiet.

*

It was so soft... her breath touching full dark lips, anticipation thick in the air. She wanted to move closer, to feel the gap closing, but she couldn’t. It was like the moment froze, neither of them could lean over. As the want to do so became overwhelming, the temperature rose, the enticing smell of the other body made her want to fight the spell, struggle and try to reach...

*

“Ow!”

Martha bolted upright, woken by Rose’s cry.

“What? What is it?”She scrambled towards Rose’s bed, nearly tripping over her blanket, only to find Rose already on the floor.

"You okay?"

“Ow... Nothing, bad dream,” she muttered. Suddenly realizing that Martha's face was just as close as she was seconds ago in her mind, Rose moved away.

"Whatever. Let's just go to sleep."

She climbed back on her bed and turned to the wall, still feeling a concerned look on herself. She couldn't fall asleep for a long time.
