Tavros loved rain. He couldn't deny that he enjoyed it. In fact, everything in nature made his heart feel just a little lighter. When it came to wheeling himself 'home' in the rain, however, he lost that fondness for a time. It happened many times back in New York- rain, not being home, wheeling home, his wheelchair slip-sliding from the puddles and mud... yeah. Not very great.
It happened in the blink of an eye this time, and soon enough, he found his wheelchair skidding. Not only was it sliding beyond his control, but it was also headed for someone else caught in the rain.
One moment, Roxas was progressively growing more and more comfortable in his kinda sorta maybe a little bit of moping state. The next? Well.... He was... Was that a voice? So, he had listened. Quietly. Just sitting there and doing his best to pick up if... if that really was another person. And if that was them, what were they... They were repeating something. Someone repeating something louder and louder and louder and then all of a sudden, there was this big... thing coming hauling towards him. He had no idea what it was- at least not right away. But what he did know was what instinct drive him to do before thought even occurred.
Get out of the way. Of course, Roxas had seemed to have forgotten one important detail even as he faced off against the very paramount of reason why he should have been more careful. It was slippery. So, of course, next thing he knew, he was sliding the rest of the way across the smooth surface of the one rock face. Luckily, he was at least out of the way of whatever was going at him. Unfortunately, he had
( ... )
So of course, Tavros wheeled straight into a rock face himself, the one Roxas was right in front of before he slid away. Thankfully, the front of his wheelchair got the brunt of the hit, and he wasn't badly hurt. That earned a sigh of relief more than anything.
That is, until he realized the other person was up against a rock and not looking too good. He gasped, but from being a bit shaken up, it came out as more of a squeak. How... embarrassing.
"Oh god, um, I'm sorry. For what I did, I mean! I didn't really... mean to, and it was hard to control, because, uh, they're wheels, and. Yeah."
He awkwardly ran a hand through his faux hawk. So, so embarrassing.
It took him a moment for him to even get a grip on things again. Because that landing had smarted something... rather painful. The new voice managed to shake him out of his daze though- and he promptly tried to skitter to his feet. Keyword being tried. Because as soon as he attempted, he only got as far as sitting up before he groaned.
"Ugh... My head..." He rubbed the back of it gingerly as he finally drew his gaze to his unexpected guest. Well, at least he wasn't one of those weird guys. That brought some sense of relief to him. Secondly, how just outright spazzy whoever this guy was... was. Disarming Roxas completely and leaving him feeling just a stretch... awkward... Focus, focus...
"...I can see that." He kept rubbing his head. Give him another minute to get his bearings here.
Tavros frowned as the strange boy got to his rear. Well, at least he wasn't any worse, such as being knocked unconscious or bleeding profusely or anything. Still, though, a hit to the head was always a worrying thing. Thus, Tavros shoved his wheels through the mud and trudged to Roxas, face painted with concern.
"Yeah, it's. Kind of obvious, I suppose, but uh. Are you okay? That looked like it must have hurt. Like, a lot."
"Yeah, I'm fine. I think." Roxas continued to rub his head for a bit longer on the ground there. Should the other guy have been the one asking that anyway? Seriously, man. He was the one that ran right smack into the rock face with his chair. What was he doing with a chair anyw-
...Oh. T-That. That was... why. Roxas couldn't help but stare. Common sense might have told him it was rude, but. He wasn't the most knowledgeable in that department sometimes. At the very least, his staring wasn't followed by a question. Just... more staring. A little bit bewildered.
Well, that turned his face even more red with embarrassment. Sure, he's used to people staring at him as he goes down the street in his wheelchair, but having this person staring at him right in close proximity sure upped the awkward level.
Tavros lowered his gaze to the wet and filthy ground below to avoid eye contact. "Well, uh... that's good. I would have felt bad if you hurt yourself too badly. That wouldn't have been good at all."
He clasped his hands together and shifted his eyes back and forth nervously. "So, uh... are you a native? I mean, for here, because I'm not from here."
Roxas continued watching him, tilting his head when the other lowered his only to... finally seem to catch on and avert his eyes. Yeah, okay. He didn't mean to make the guy all flighty. Though honestly, whoever this was? Wasn't alone in those feelings by any stretch. Roxas only renewed his gaze on him as his inquiry. Something he was... taken aback from. A native?
He shook his head- then realized that this guy probably wouldn't see the gesture with how much he, uh. Was intent on not looking at him, so he quickly accompanied it with words. "No, I just... got here." It was a hard thing to explain. Pink doors and falling into random feather beds. Hayner, Pence, and Olette would have definitely given him a weird look if he had taken a story like that to them. He felt like enough of a weirdness magnet already. Forgive him while he, uh. Spaced out in thought.
Honestly, Tavros wasn't surprised. He hadn't seen anyone native to this place yet, which was a shame because that would have been such a big help for him. He was determined to fix this name issue and get back home regardless of anything, though, no matter how little help he can get. He couldn't just leave Gamzee worrying about him for long. (He... would worry about him, right?)
He ran a hand through his hair and shifted his gaze to Roxas. Not outside of the cave, not the floor, but to Roxas at long last. This wasn't the first time he was being stared at for his crippled state, and it wouldn't be the last, surely.
"Did you get here because of... pink doors and, uhh, a weird drop into feathers and stuff? And, uh, did you lose your name, too?" Just like he and Riku did.
He wasn't the only one- well, obviously. Roxas had scored the forest for a while now. Of course, difference being? He hadn't even found anyone... period. Something that was now remedied somewhat by Tavros' appearance. Somewhat because although he wasn't alone, who knew what this guy knew... And for all he knew? Maybe he was just daydreaming again. If he was though, it was certainly hard to believe with how real it felt.
And it especially became suspicious when this guy mentioned all those weird things... Making Roxas jerk slightly, leaning back with eye wide. "You, too?" It slipped out without him missing a beat. Because, well. This was the first time he had felt like... he wasn't the only one going crazy. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
Tavros sulked a little at the answer. Someone else in his situation... how horrible that has to be. Well, how horrible it is, as he's already in that situation himself. Still, though, he was handling it a bit better than he thought he would. Not that he expected anything of this odd magnitude.
He rolled a little closer and examined the necklace on Roxas' neck. Yes, he had one, too, just like Riku. Just like him. How unsurprising.
"So, uh... I bet you forgot your name, too. I mean, your real one. Mine is Paige, I guess, but not for real. It's not my real name."
Roxas blinked one moment before looking to where Tavros' was focused on- seeing the necklace. That... he admittedly hadn't been paying too much attention to. At least up until right then. But now he lightly touched it. Almost as if he were afraid that when he did, something would happen. Nothing did, of course. But the thought was there before he looked up at now dubbed 'Paige'.
Forgot his name, too... All of this was just too bizarre and Roxas found himself running a hand through his hair. Just... trying to resettle his bearings on things.
"Yeah. I did, too..." His brows scrunched up and he looked faintly bitter one moment before brushing it off. "Guess you can call me Tobias though. Just for now." No way was he just going to let it be like that though. So stirred up about this even while he held a calm face.
Tobias. That was this boy's name, or well, his new one. He lost his name, too. It made Tavros wonder, how many people living here did lose their names? How many natives did live around here? Were there even any at all apart from whatever higher power is dictating this city?
He didn't know, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to know. Possibly so, even though the answer would probably leave a bitter taste in his mouth.
He cupped his hand over his chin and gave a thoughtful expression. "I guess so. I guess I wouldn't know what else to call you, if you don't have your... uh, your name. The real name, that you're supposed to have."
So he wasn't native to here. He had to wonder now. "So uh, do you know anyone who's from here yet? I think maybe, if we tried, maybe someone could help us because of. These issues."
Well, don't look at him. He knew about just as much as Tavros did. Although he definitely wasn't going to take all this laying down. He just... needed some time to pull himself together. Yeah, that was it. ...No, seriously, he knew he couldn't mope forever, wondering why this was happening to him.
...Tavros, though, you're not helping.
Still, Roxas just... shook his head, scratching it. Then- again -to answer Tavros' inquiry. "You're the first person I've run into." Almost literally- and it was Tavros doing the almost... running over. "But there might be others out there." They would just have to look. Admittedly, that got Roxas kind of studying Tavros again. Could he really trust him? ...He seemed harmless enough. And working together... they would have a better chance of things.
"Well, uh, I mean a person already, Oberon, him, that's what his name is, and he's helping me out, so I can get home. So maybe, we could all work together, if he doesn't mind, too much."
He's rambling. God, is he ever rambling. Then again, he always does.
"Though," Tavros added, eyes flitting to behind Roxas, curious about what's deeper in this cave. He'd actually want to explore a little, as reckless as it might be. He may be a little awkward and clumsy, but he wasn't that bad. Goodness no. He's not a total wimp.
"I think we can get home, and even find our names! We knew them at one point, so I'm sure we can find them out again... somehow. With enough perseverance."
Oberon. Not a name he heard of. But then what was he thinking? Like he would run into any of his friends here. So he thought after running around like an idiot in search of them in woods he had never seen before in his life. Not likely. But then him even being in this place didn't seem plausible either. Man, what a headache it was all turning out to be. Still, whoever this Oberon was. They seemed helpful. Allowing a 'maybe' to be murmured from Roxas in turn before Tavros had changed up the subject.
"Yeah... I hope so." As much as he was, uh. Curious about this place, he had just a little more of a liking for Twilight Town. "Guess sitting around won't really help with that." He spoke the last bit with a bit of a strain as he stretched. Afterward finding his foothold on the world again, stumbling just slightly as he skidded on the wet rock before finally planting himself firmly upright.
"So, you said there was a town nearby..." This was Roxas asking him to lead the way.
