The description and the title both drew me to this story right away. I love that song with a passion, and it proved an excellent choice for a title on many levels.

That JDM's class was fronted as a class on magical realism in literature struck me as a brilliant bit of irony, as that was very much what this story was itself. I loved the way it slotted these abilities into real life in such organic ways. (Even telepaths have to wash the dishes sometimes!) I was happy to see Jared recognizing and working on the potential ethical dilemma inherent in his ability, and I'm glad you didn't flinch away from addressing the issue. I loved how Jared and Jensen each represented a different aspect of being "talented," the joy of it and the terror. Jensen's projected dream was a powerful image--the clock with its rigid face to the world, mechanically expressing only what was expected of it, the king standing for Jensen's family and the conditioning they impressed on (beat into) his superego. The growth of the relationship, and the way it foundered on youthful misjudgement and misunderstanding was nicely rendered, and the physical side of the relationship was sensual and visceral (I still remember it from our chest to chest and feet to feet...).

I can tell you and your artist both put a lot of work and a lot of love into this story, and it shows.
