Sailing on the excellent end of a psych term (will never again get such a great ward assessment/exam), geared up for Allied Health. For the non Perth of the flist, the med school hires out one of the clubs, and 1000+ students/exstudents remotely associated with health (read: this rule is basically defunct) turn up and the evening deteriorates into a sleaze fest as per the usual rules of clubbing. Had so far avoided going to this, but since its my last year, I've had urges to go for things for the nostalgic 'experience'. I did not expect it to COMPLETELY ROCK my proverbial socks :D simply because I hadn't accounted for a couple of things:
1. Predrinks at Defectory - this funky little place with velvet patterned wallpaper, leather armchairs and this fantastic yellow glow from a myriad of mismatched lights that threw shadows everywhere and made you feel like you were in a gangster film from the 50s.
2. Going in with a fierce determination to flail madly (and vaguely) in time to the music
3. Avoiding sleaze by the tried and tested method of running away.
and the best reason:
4. Being surrounded by fantastic, crazy friends equally up for the flailing.
Took my mum out for a birthday brunch and picked the greasiest thing on the menu, as it turned out I'd had a bit too much fun (should probably have realised this when I started loudly proclaiming my love for a number of people/things last night). Had a pretty relaxing day with her, then grabbed one of her old shirts with shoulder pads, tied a scarf around my head, wore the stripiest knee high socks I could find and headed off to cosmic bowling. Turning out to be a kicker of a weekend. :)
