Clinical Psych programs that don't care so much about GRE

 Hi all,

I'm new to the community. I was referred by someone in Yahoo answers (for which I am grateful).

I am writing because I have been applying for a while. I have 2 Masters degrees in Counseling psych from an Ivy League school. I have 3 years of research experience in research, approx 12-15 Abstracts 8 of which are first authorships. I also have extensive experience in counseling, both group and individual. However, I've taken the GRE multiple times and my score just does not improve enough to gain entrance (V590, Q 580). I have taken the Kaplan course three times, I've gotten individual tutoring, I take all the practice tests and questions that I can find online and in books, and still not enough improvement.

I will retake the test once more this year, and hope to improve. *However*, I am now searching for schools that don't take the GRE too seriously. I heard that there are a number of good, APA-accredited schools (e.g., Stanford, and UConn) that look at other qualifications more than the GRE. And I am looking for other such schools so that I may apply and actually have a shot at getting in.

I am interested in mood disorders (particularly bipolar, but I'd be happy working with depression and dysthymia too). So, if people know of schools that don't concentrate on the GRE so much, I would greatly appreciate the feedback. If you are one of those people who "didn't get great GRE scores but got in anyway" please let me know what school you went to.

Finally, I'm not interested in a Psy D because of the focus they place on clinical work, I am interested in research.

Thank you all for any help you may be able to give me.
