For someone who wants to teach, what kind of "Internship" is appropriate in grad school?

I'm applying to MA in Communication Studies programs and one of the programs I'm applying to places a *big* emphasis on Internships, mainly because of the location of the school and its proximity to tv-film-media companies. Depends on your focus, but what about an internship that deals with methods? Like if you're planning on being qualitative, intern at a market research firm that would allow you to run focus groups. Or if you're quantitative, a network that does experimental testing of show outcomes? What internships would allow you to collect data for your MA thesis? (IMHO, if you're trying to do a PhD next, anything that isn't giving you data or enhansing your methods skills is a waste of time.)

Without knowing your focus, it is hard to say exactly, but feel free to share and I can try to help. (I'm a Comm PhD student.)

If this program has a heavy emphasis on internship and not teaching then are you sure you want to apply there? I mean, field experience is lovely to put on your resume but if this school isn't going to offer you positions to teach then is it even worthwhile going there? Is there someone you want to study under specifically or does this program develop your interests?
