Hi, all!
I'd like to hear your thoughts on multiple masters degrees.
The ultimate goal: To go back to school for my PhD in Near Eastern Art and Archaeology. I want to research and I want to teach.
The interim goal: To have a competitive application, possibly by pursuing a second masters. I only have one school in mind since I live close by. I *could* move, but I'm stuck where I am for a couple more years at least...and the school nearby would be my first choice anyway.
The facts: I currently hold a BA in Art History/Classics and a MS in Arts Administration. I have been working in higher education fundraising/development full time. I have been out of school for nearly 3 years. I work at a university (unfortunately not the one I want to apply to), so I have the opportunity to take some classes and transfer credit. (Great chance to work on languages!)
Has anyone here gone back for a second masters? Am I *allowed* to get a second masters, given that I already have one? The PhD program I am looking at is a joint MA/PhD as well, so I could apply for the joint degree, but I am not sure how common it is for individuals to earn more than one at the MA level.
