Out of 6 schools I had applied to I was rejected from 2 and wait listed at 4. Granted, I also applied to the top schools for my chosen field in the country. With the economy being as terrible as it is, and medical school being as difficult to get into as it is, I consider myself lucky to be wait listed at any school. That said...
A month ago a mass e-mail was sent to all wait-listed students, asking them to reply with their current status... to see if they were still interested or if they had accepted another offer someplace else. I replied, stating I was still interested. This morning I receive a call from that particular school. He had asked, again, to see if I was still interested. I said yes. He replied with a positive "We're very interested in you", word for word. Then he asked if I had any questions. Considering the extensive research I did on the school I replied in the negative and we hung up. After hanging up I darn near banged my head on the table realizing that could have been a potential 'impromptu interview' in order to weed me out from other potential wait list candidates.
What do all of you think? Did I completely botch up a potential 'impromptu phone interview' (when no official interview is required to complete the admissions process for this school), or was this simply protocol, a phone call to make sure I'd most likely accept an offer if it was made to me?
