apply now? boost my gpa? gain experience?

hello all,

i'm having a difficult time deciding on whether or not i should take some classes as a non-degree student, study abroad, or immediately apply to grad school after i finish my undergrad in the Fall of 2009.

here's a little background info:
I'm currently a senior double majoring in Political Science and Spanish. I would love to go onto grad school and pursue a MA in Spanish and Latin American literature. My gpa as of now is 3.12, but this semester has caught up to me and i will be getting a failing grade in one of my political science courses so i will take it again next semester. This failing grade will make my gpa fall to a 2.7. My gpa in Spanish is a 3.8 and i am member of the national spanish honorary society. I've also studied abroad in Spain and the Dominican Republic. The program i am applying to is at the same school i am currently attending for my undergraduate BA. I plan on applying this coming fall and i will still have the 2.7, but i really intend on working my hardest to raise this gpa. The program i am applying for requires at least a 3.0.

With all of this information, I was wondering what should be my next step? Am i fool for thinking ill be able to get into grad school with this gpa? Should i talk to some advisors/professors. Should i take classes to boost my gpa? Should i go abroad to gain more 'immersion experience'?

Any help is appreciated. thank you

gpa, applying, work experience
