Scholarship question

Hi all,

I recently got accepted to a university research program that pays for tuition and health insurance as well as a monthly stipend. This is guaranteed in first year and in every subsequent year so long as I remain a student in good standing.

Thing is, even though I don't have to pay anything, I recently got a graduate scholarship from the Canadian government for a pretty hefty sum of money redeemable for one year.

I'm sort of confused as to how my university would handle me getting a bunch of money when frankly, I have no need to pay for anything. Does anybody know what the policy is regarding outside funding when you are already guaranteed it from the uni? Does the university just take the scholarship and then throw a party because they just saved a wad of cash?

scholarships, stipends, funding
