alternate plans

Hi everyone,
So I am about to wrap up round 2 of applying to philosophy PhD programs. Last year was a bust, and it looks like this year is shaping up to be the same. I know it's an especially terrible year to be trying to get into academia, but still-- combined with last year's results it's making me wonder if the institutional discipline of philosophy is just not receptive to the kind of work I want to do. (Stuff like sexual difference, social transformation and temporality; questions of embodiment and desire; post-humanism and ecophilosophy; immanence and multiplicity in divine and secular contexts, etc.)

I did exceptionally well in my undergraduate phil studies, won a thesis prize, have presented my work, all that good stuff, so I'm starting to wonder if my work is just too queer for philosophy.

So, if you were me, and it seemed like as much as you thought you wanted to Do Philosophy philosophy doesn't want to do you, what non-phil programs on the east coast would you look into? NYC-area A+.

theory, philosophy
