Emailing Grad Adviser, Tactfullness

I'm emailing a grad adviser at one of the schools where I'm applying to try and arrange a campus visit where I can talk to one of the current directing MFA students. It's probably better not to mention why you'll already be there, and I doubt they'd ask, since the reason could be personal. :)

I got my first rejection notice via e-mail today because yesterday I e-mailed a prof (who also happened to be department chair) and expressed my interest in coming to visit the campus and in setting up a time to travel to that university and meet with her. It was disappointing, but I appreciated them not beating around the bush and making me wait until the official letters went out in a couple of weeks, since it meant I wouldn't have to make travel plans out there after all.

That second part's good to know, because if I mentioned that I was already going to be in town they wouldn't have a reason to let me know whether or not I got in. Thanks for the response, I really appreciate it!
