Hey again--thanks so much for the advice with what to do about the missing signature across the recommendation flap. It looks like I'll be sending out everything tomorrow, so I'll just have my recommender sign it tomorrow morning before running to the post office ( Read more... )

1. i included a cover letter with a checklist of the things i was sending in to serve as both something for them to check against as well as a reminder for me so i made sure all the necessary documents got in.

2. the schools i applied for both had a confirmation page from the online application that you were supposed to send with the supp. materials. i also printed off copies of the online application for my records just in case.

3. I put name, intended program, semester i want to start and "statement of purpose"

4. i don't have personal experience with this but i would imagine that is fine unless they are wanting to see a physical portfolio.

as for the struggling with the essays, i had the same problem until my brother came over (he's my editor) and we sat down in one afternoon and did the essays. it was not only helpful to have someone else there to bounce ideas off of but he helped me organize my thoughts into an outline before i even began to write. someone on this community suggested to me getting someone else to help you organize your thoughts, and this definitely help so i offer you the same advice :)

good luck!! there is nothing better than the relief of knowing the applications are in!

I really like the checklist idea. What a simple way to keep yourself from going crazy wondering if you forgot anything.

Thanks for that! I've been maintaining a chart for my own sanity in Google Docs of what each school needs, but to create one for each school to include totally helps as well.

None of the schools are asking for a physical portfolio--I think the paradigm's shifted towards digital work to make it easier on everyone. :) I do have to submit a PDF of work on a CD and I'm working on compiling that.

I've been running my essays by a few friends, and one out-of-town friend did spend a few minutes playing devil's advocate/sounding board and bounced ideas off me for a while, which did help a lot. I have both statements finalized now, finally.

Thanks so much! :)
