I know for a fact I have one awesome LOR and I am going to talk to another prof on Friday, so hopefully things will go well there. I was also going to ask the researcher who runs my clinic to write me a LOR.

That is very true! I guess my main point was meant to be that I am happy doing a research oriented PhD. I know there is no way I would ever be accepted into a clinical program :)

I think it's worth a shot. You have relevant research experience, that probably compensates for your inconsistent GPA (just guessing here, but I'd think programs care more about research fit than grades in an unrelated major).
