As the applications turn...another day in the life

So I got interviews at 3 of 4 schools I applied to. Had contact with professors after the first interview (BGSU), just got acceptance letter, tuition waiver but stipend of only 11,500 and possible summer research of 1500-5000. I will almost certainly have to find other monetary income as even my frugal ass cannot live on 11 grand a year.

2nd school I interviewed with (MSU), had some good points and bad points. Good name, not so sure of the program and people. My question is, the interviews were on the 15th, is it too late to write the profs a thank you letter? Deliberations were to start on the Feb. 25th, haven't heard back yet.

3rd school I just interviewed with last friday. Not accepted yet but they offer 14,200 in stipend and tuition waiver. It's Wayne State in Detroit, actually has a good program and well known. Love the area, the people. Little weirded by the fact that a school in the heart of detroit had no black students or faculty in the program. Should I let that dissuade me?

I don't know, what do you guys think?
