what to do after meeting with a potential research advisor

So i am a senior in electrical engineering at school A. I have gotten into  school A for grad school, and recently i met with a professor in the department to talk about research. It seemed like he thought i was a strong candidate and he said it was up to me to decide on what i want to work on and with who. I liked his research a fair amount, and ( Read more... )

First, learn to write more coherently. Most of your post was rather difficult to read.

If you're recommended for admission and being flown out, you can call yourself admitted.

Being invited to an open house says nothing of your chances to get aid.

If I'm reading your second paragraph correctly (really, work on your writing skills...), then I'd say there's no need to tell the prof you're keeping your options open. That's pretty obvious if you haven't accepted yet... If you feel like you should contact him, you can thank him for the talk and tour. Nothing more is necessary at this point.

Hey adequaticus

I've gotten several complaints about your douchebaggary. So please, keep it to the minimum. If I get more complaints I'm going to have to consider banning you more permanently than last time.

Also, do you really need to critique internet writing skills? They generally do not reflect actual writing skills (well except in extreme cases, which this is not)

I'm simply giving abrasive advice, which I feel is needed. When I try and defend my position, I get insulted. The personal attacks have all been directed at me.

Yes, in this case, I believe it's important to point out his flawed writing skills. Are mine perfect? No, but the way the OP words and organizes his post points toward a real problem he should look into. Just my opinion...

lol Purdue open house? I had that 'recommended by program' messege for a few days and received acceptance email from the department today. So I guess that pretty much means you are accepted.
