How do I make myself sound awesome?

I am applying for a scholarship at my top choice school (taught MA program) and the prompt says:

With reference to the scholarship eligibility criteria of academic achievement please include information about yourself to support your application for a scholarship. They don't list any "eligibility criteria", it's very vague. I am in the humanities ( Read more... )

Applying for a taught MA program, no one expects you to have published. No one expects you to publish during the MA either.

You can talk about your research plans, but considering that it's a taught program, I would indicate a certain amount of flexibility (if you go in with your mind made up about your diss, then you will be the only one) and possibly only bring it up towards the end. I'd talk more about how what you've done so far prepares you for this: what your BA is in, what sort of coursework you did, what class degree you got (I'm assuming here from your specification of "taught" MA that you're British). I would try, without repeating information available to them in other parts of my app, to give them sort of a snapshot view of me as a scholar. It seems like the emphasis here is on achievement (what you've done) rather than on goals (what you'll do).

That's a really vague prompt though. Ugh.

I know, ridiculously vague. I'm actually an American applying to a British program, which makes my entire application process a bit more complex, hence the reason I need the extra help.

Good advice about discussing what I have done for preparation...I talked a bit about my intellectual development and certain unique experiences that I have had within my major...I think it all relates well to what I want to study and how I am prepared. I did have it a bit heavy on what I intend to do, but I think I will cut that section down a bit now and try and go for short and sweet (there is no word limit either).

Thanks so much for your help! :)
