Gargh!
Has anyone ever accepted a paid visit invitation to one of their lower-choice schools, only to be invited later by your top choice (which you never planned to get in to) during THE SAME WEEKEND? (Which is right at the end of the month, bah!) I couldn't have left the first school hanging this long, and at the time they were the only ones offering me concrete funding, so yeah.
Of course, I'll write back and regretfully decline (I stick to my word), and I am going to make it clear that I am still EXTREMELY interested and would like to visit at some other time if possible, but still, I'm kicking myself. I didn't think that even on the off-chance I got into that top pick that they'd have a recruitment weekend on such short notice!
Do you think that that does me in with them? My professors think it'll make me look more responsible to the department, but I still worry...
