a bit premature, but nevertheless

Hello, everyone!

A query:
I (American) am heading to Oxford next year for a BA (coming from a New Hampshire boarding school here in the US), and, given the difficulty of securing international funding, etc., would consider coming back here for grad school. I'm wondering how difficult it is to be considered as an international/UK applicant to the more competitive American unis, considering that we don't get "grades" until our final degree examinations, the results of which don't come out until summer of our final year, and that our degree courses are so narrow. (I'll only be studying one subject for three years!) I'm also wondering whether things like a high school transcript (particularly senior year grades) and AP exams would come into play.

(I'm currently under a great deal of parental pressure to take five AP exams, none of which I'm currently taking the course for, but am rather self-studyiing, as a resume-builder of sorts, and under equal amounts of said pressure to avoid the dreaded B+ at any cost - I'm wondering to what extent this perception of the grad school admissions process is accurate.)

Yes, this question is probably years premature, but in any case, I don't want to do or not do anything that would hurt me three years down the line...

Thank you!
-Isabella
