Non-Major Research Experience

One of the honors programs at my university includes a four-year long research project, culminating in a book-length thesis, that is done in teams of 10-15 students.

My team's project is about biology and conservation, and there is a very good chance that we will have it published.  While I would be extremely confident about listing this on my CV ( Read more... )

I would definitely include it in your CV. I'm sure you're learning things in this project that you can applying as a literature grad student. If you can figure out what these things are, then definitely put it in your CV.

I don't even understand why you wouldn't list it. Unless you don't want people to think you can work on a project for a long period of time, collaborate with others, and write a really long thing on the research you did. I mean, if none of that matters and you think no one will care about any of those things, don't include it.

This is related to literature in that you had to write, and you will have to write as a graduate student in a literature program. Also, you had to work on one project for a really long time - again, something you will need to do in graduate school. You worked collaboratively with others, which is common in some programs (although I'm not sure about English). I would definitely include this on your CV. If it doesn't put you over the word limit in your SOP, I would mention it there as well, noting the connections above. ("As a member of my college's honors program, I conducted research on x for four years as part of a 15-person team. This project, which culminated in my thesis, taught me persistence, writing skills, and getting along with others." Or something.)
