A lovely 35C day in Amador County

Jul 15, 2006 17:05

Amador Wineries visited and sampled included:

Villa Toscana (no website, oddly enough)
Montevina - the Teroldego 2003 was particularly notable.
Renwood
Sobon Estate
(one more?)

--> Many lovely Zinfandels, but honestly, the only Renwood wine worth mentioning was their Barbera. Montevina did have a highly enviable Pinot Grigio, but my mom was convinced that their Sauvignon Blanc was better. We split the difference and the case.

The road back was blocked by fire - did I mention it was hot?

EDIT: Turns out the traffic delay and plume of smoke was from a Volvo-on-Volvo head-on collision that killed 4, with only one survivor (with minor injuries)...the accident happened only minutes before we arrived at the congested lane approaching the crash scene. The road didn't reopen until 7pm that night.

Now, BBQ is in the works.

I have no idea how we're going to fit all these cases in my little Ursli for the drive back to San Francisco.
