Good shopping morning
Yanked in my haul o' fruit & veg this morning. The rains drove away half the merchants, but there were still good finds to have.
Points of interest (for those who care for such information):
- The cauliflower was really mixed...some merchants had great, if smallish, heads on offer, others had rescued disasters - and not all that appealing.
- Lovely seedless tangerines! Mmmm! (worth the price, I tell you!)
- No kale! Few brussel sprouts either. I have a hankering for them both at the mo.
- No aubergine, and no cucumbers. Few pears either, and most of those were quite badly bruised bosc.
On my walk home, I was pleased to see the fishmonger's full of stock, so I dashed in and bought two lovely "Bassa" fillets* for $4.00! What a deal! The Red Snapper fillets were selling for $5.00 a pound.
*I've not tried it before, I don't think. But it's a white fish, and one can do a lot of things with that protein.
