I'm making this post for my friends at home to see Austin and what we're looking at related to where they'll be staying, and where we'll be going out. So if any of you are interested in maps of Austin, you can look too!
There are some really lowkey bars on 6th, if you find the right place. I've mostly stayed away from bars in the Warehouse district because only yuppies go there, and when I lived there, I didn't own enough glittery shirts to go to those bars.
Also, the Dillo is free compared to the bike taxis. I always took that. You usually have to wait, but it's worth it.
My friends want crazy Bachelorette party dancing on bar, bars. They aren't down w/ low key. I'm going to go out Thursday night for my Birthday and that's when we'll do low key, cause it's my favorite! But they want glittery, tank top, crazy fun bars. Where do you think we can go for that, but not want to throw up from 21 year olds?
I've never been on the Dillo, I wouldn't even know where to wait for it. That's the trolly like thing, right?
I think there is a Dillo site. Pick up a Dillo schedule or something, actually, that's not totally necessary. It goes east on 5th and west on 7th, and just goes in circles. If you're nice, you can even tell the Dillo driver to just drop you off wherever. There are Dillo stops all up and down the streets - they're signs. We'd usually pick it up at Whisky Bar and get dropped off around Jackalope.
I'd go to some gay ol dance clubs on 6th if you want to party. Some of the "older" ones have long lines to get in and you usually have to be some latina beauty to get in... so gay. I never ever really tried to get into those places for that reason alone. I don't really have any suggestions because I don't know what's around anymore since I left.
Nice Job w/the Maps Lauren!

Wow, this is one thorough "tour" of Austin! I'm impressed! I don't care what kind of bars we hit - low key, gay, yuppy, dance, rave, etc. - we bring the party wherever we go anyway! -Tarrah
