Going to the gym sucks

I have no motivation or whatsoever.  I really hate doing something out of force because in turn, it only leads me to quit miserably.  I need inspiration! Motivation! And fun!

I went three times last week and I've only been running on the treadmill and have only tried the elliptical once.  What I do is walk for 15 minutes to get my heart rate started ( Read more... )

Thank you so much! All this info helps! And I don't know why I find it comforting knowing that staying fit is 80% diet and 20% exersice. I think I would do a lot better in the dieting aspect of staying fit just because I'm a lazy ass and do not enjoy working out. Thanks for that again!

Faces of Death! That's it! I knew it was something "death". Eeeek! Just thinking about it makes me cringe.

True. But I think at the rate I'm going at, I would rather skip a meal or two than hop on an elliptical machine =/

What keeps me motivated? The closet full of clothes that don't fit me.. hehe.. although sometimes I feel that it's not motivation enough to fit into them again (in the end I tell myself to just buy a new waredrobe!) because I haven't been making it to the gym consistently. Ever since coming back from the UK I've been totally slacking on my working out. Still waiting for that motivation to kick into high gear! What I started doing was counting my calories just to become more aware of what I was eating. I limit myself to whole wheat breads/pastas.. leaner meats and trying to eat more veggies.. mainly broccoli. It's so tough when I see my parents though.. white rice.. fattier cuts of meat.. fried stuff! hehe..

But it's awesome that you made it to the gym!! Keep it up!

I remember when I use to count calories. It worked for me until I just got lazy and stopped. I lost about 3 pounds in the 3 weeks I was doing it. Hmmm...maybe I should it again!

And yeh, I love my rice too much to give it up. I have the converted white rice which is supposed to be "healthier", but I ate a lot of it and I don't think that was helping.

i go to the gold's gym around my house and they have this really fun class called kukuwa dance which is a mix of african inspired dances but also mixes in latin, carribean, and other dance moves. the instructor said it burns about 950 calories per class! yay!

but otherwise, always think, "to lose weight, you must burn more calories than go in". plain and simple to lose weight.

and my motivation is seeing my mom and grandmother on my mom's side. there's a history of high blood pressure, stroke, and diabetes (all of it which has happened!) so that motivates me like a fothermucker =D

Hehe @ fothermucker! I'm going to use that from now on!

I'm really glad that there's no real health complications running in my family (not rubbing that in, I promise). But had there been, I'm sure I would be more cautious about the things I do and eat.

At least you're going! To get motivated, you may want to book an appt with the gym's personal trainer to get a program set up specifically for you, and then they can keep you in check, so to speak. Or work out with a friend, which helps quite a bit. When I was training for running, I had a whole group to run with so I was running a lot more than now. Good luck!
