Los Angeles pothole madness

Mar 05, 2008 22:32

I go to Koreatown often. Usually my first stop is the Galleria mall on Western and Olympic. Which means I get on the 10, exit at western, turn left, drive up. Or..if it's not my first stop, it's usually my last stop, and I drive back down Western to get back on the freeway and home again.

So, on this drive back down Western Avenue, there's this like half block of street just past Venice in front of Carls Jr. that is beyond what you'd call pothole hell. In fact, when I submitted a service request earlier today with the city, I described it as "layers of failed pothole repair and resurfacing" because that's exactly what it is. It's like someone melted the asphalt to the consistency of putty (is that even possible?) and then had a bunch of kids jumping around in it while it was cooling.

If you've ever encountered that street, you know what I'm talking about.

Why is it the city has entire crews dedicated to pothole repair and street resurfacing and they go off and resurface other streets (like around Western and 1st street near hankook market) but they can't ever fix this particular area? Is it because there's always too much traffic or what?

And I can't believe that others haven't submitted requests for repair either. So if you do do a lot of driving around in ktown, pleeeaaseee submit a request: http://www.lacity.org/boss/Resurfacing/index.htm ...and ignore the comic sans (*facepalm*).
