Normal blog at www.omgh4x.com/siurant is down, so I've decided to use this space instead for the time being.

Dang, we are having some curaaazzyy weather--yesterday it was beautiful and sunny, even if it was a bit windy, and this morning (to my blow-dried hair's dismay) it was raining cats and dogs.  I'm going to have to change out of my present pants-outfit into a skirt, since the bottoms of my slacks are now soaked.  Have to dress presentably for my bailiff duties tonight--as a TA for first year Moot Court, I have to do the whole "All rise...The Supreme Court of the United States is now in session blah blah blah..." for their final oral argument.  Last night, I watched four of my students argue, and they all had very different styles.  All in all, I'm very impressed by the strides they've made since their first oral presentations in class.

Some sad news from yesterday--my first year Torts professor, Francis (Frank) Walsh passed away over the weekend from a massive stroke.  He was a very kind man, and had all of that chivalrous, gentlemanly charm of the old days (I think our class calculated that he was about 87).  The thing I liked the most about him was that he was still in love with his wife, after over 50 years of marriage.

Had a great weekend...relaxing Friday, watching some shows I had taped, and Saturday was full of excitement of the doggy and food variety.  The Lees brought home a new doggy (some sort of lab/pit bull mix) that is super duper cute.  When Demian, Steph, Justin and I went to La Fondue, we spent a good chunk of time thinking of names...according to Steph (potatoxstamp), they've finally settled on Milo, but we went through a whole host of very enticing names, including David Bowie, Pooey, Mike Tyson, Dino, and some not-so-P.C. names that Demian and I grew very attached to.  It was my first time at La Fondue, and let me tell you, I was not adequately prepared.  First, the decor was unexpected--very medievalish and dark and sprinkled with Christian paraphernalia...I was expecting a bistro, not Ye Olde Castle of Yore...Second, I had no idea that there would be SO MUCH FOOD...goddamn!  Steph warned us to take it easy on the salad, so I only had maybe half of my spinach salad with lemon tarragon dressing, maybe a third...but even then, I knew I was doomed.  First was the cheese fondue (we chose the Stinking Rose--a garlicky, winey, swiss cheese mixture...it was good with the bread cubes, but I thought it smelled a little funny...maybe the swiss?), and then MEAT MEAT MEAT...we chose the grilling option (probably the best way to go in terms of food volume), which came with 6 delicious sauces (a horseradish cream sauce, a mango chutney, a teriyaki sauce, a spicy wasabi teriyaki sauce, a barbecue sauce, and a sour cream dip).  I was a goner after just a few pieces of meat (the swiss chicken was a delicious, unique option--I couldn't really tell the difference among the rest of the meats in our "Fondue Feast"...I think we ordered Wild Turkey, Savage Duck, Fish Fillet, Filet Mignon and Ostrich Filet Mignon.  After the meat course, I frankly thought I was going to die from fullness.  But we couldn't stop there!  There was, after all, a chocolate fondue left--we selected a Bittersweet Chocolate and Irish Cream mix, which was deeee-licious with the platter of fruit, poundcake, cookie assortment.  I gobbled up the dessert, and then gracefully rolled out the door and back to the car, a la Willy Wonky and the Chocolate Factory-style.

On Sunday, I felt full and nauseous almost the entire day--I'm pretty in tune with my body, and I figured it took literally almost 24 hours to digest Saturday's orgy of fondue...it was like my pores were oozing meat, and the mere thought of meat made me feel totally gross.  Demian was very sympathetic, and suggested we take a walk down the block to get some fresh air and help the digestive system, which really helped.  But I still really couldn't eat anything, except a little something here and there to settle my roiling insides, until dinner time, at which point I had a delicious Chinese dinner at the Lees which was perfect to reconstitute my hedonistic soul.  I think I'd return to La Fondue, but probably only for the chocolate fondue...everything else is just toooo much.  Man, I need to stop eating when I know I'm full.

Despite all of these adventures, I was able to get some outlining for Professional Responsibility done--I'm trying my hardest to get a bunch of outlining done, but I'm off to Vancouver on Thursday night, so I'm fated to fall even further behind--alas.  Ah well, you only live once!  Poo on school!
