chicago.
i spent the weekend in chicago, visiting my good friend tennessee andy. the weather was gorgeous, the city was beautiful, and we had a ton of fun. even though i was born in the chicago suburbs, and most of my extended family lives in that area, i have never actually been to chicago itself. i was really impressed with the pride the residents have for their hometown, and how much they appreciate that it is indeed summer. california has lowered my tolerance for winter, so i don't think i could ever live there, but it really is a fantastic place to visit in the summer.
highlights include: cubs game, millenium park, the bean, sears tower, art institute of chicago, lincoln park, the zoo, navy pier, miracle mile, dunkin donuts, (mmmm.) and endless amounts of walking.
i did learn two things on my trip. 1) the best time to go to the zoo is not 5 pm. 2) the best time to go to the art institute is not july 2008.
