Been a while.
Two weeks later and it's another 4 day weekend for MLK Jr. weekend. So here's the update.
Worked a few days after the new year weekend and started the deployment preparation training. First couple of days was just in the theater just trying to stay awake. Lots of blocks of instruction that is usually done in the quarterly trainings. Then we went on Friday to the combatives and lots of other stuff we used to do during sergeant's time training. Monday was the same location for HEAT rollover training, and lots of weapons simulation firing. Mostly familiarization since it was all at the engagement skills trainer Then it was two long days of going to the range. Took forever for the zero, and I managed to do it within my allotted time. The following day was actual qualification and I managed to shoot 27 on pop up targets with my full gear on which I haven't done since basic training. Paper targets are so different. I think I'm getting used to shooting more now that I've improved a little. It was damn freezing out there. Then Thursday was a day of training along with all those going to the same theater of operation as I am. Tuesday and Wednesday will just be more field stuff as we have land navigation and IED lanes. This training is almost over and I can get back to doing my regular work. It is exhausting out there. I'm not looking forward to a PT test at the end of the month I can tell you that.
Things with Ami are going along well. We continue to have a lot of good discussions as we learn about each other. It's still amazing how much alike we are. I haven't loved anyone like this in a long time. And we seem to connect on a mental and emotional and physical level that I never found with anyone else.
Gonna try to get some laundry done.
