NYC continues

Let's see, yesterday was lunch in midtown with my aunt and parents, before I headed over to the DMV. Since my parents sold the place up in Buffalo, I figured I might as well update my address on my license at the same time renew it since it would expire in 5 months anyway. I also needed a new photo for it since it still showed me when I was 19 on my license.

I then took my time heading towards the Union Square area and explored the area that used to be my old stomping grounds. I went to a few stores that have been there and lasted like Forbidden Planet and Strand Bookstore. After a while, I went over to the Heartland Brewery on Union Sq W and had a rather good sampler. After that I went over to Think Coffee to meet Angela. We talked for a while on several topics.

She asked when I stopped thinking of NYC as my home since I grew up here. It was sometime I was in college. When it became more just visiting the city rather than "coming/going home". And having been out of the city longer than in it at this point, that's understandable. Home nowadays is just where I hang my hat since I don't really have a home, it is wherever I am staying.

Tuesday the things I did included stopping by City College to get a copy of my first year transcripts. That's been a problem trying to get them while I was overseas. And I went to Chinatown for a while to look around, do some shopping, etc. It covers more area than it used to. I also wanted to mention it is amazing how much the Manhattan Mall which I knew as A&S Plaza has shrunk from 9 stories of shopping to just about 3 floors at best.

My sleep has been a bit off too. Stuff on my mind. At least most of the business stuff I did in NYC has been done. I can't really play tourist in a city I grew up in. Mostly been doing a tour for my taste buds reliving old flavours.

Plans are pretty much set for Buffalo. Then I'll be heading to my new assignment.
