End of the Year Art Dump 1!

Some brief musings on the current state of mystery/detective anime. Detective Conan looks like it will never die...or resolve anything of importance, for that matter. Production values for Detective Academy Q long ago sunk into the abyss of no return (then again, they weren't ever that hot to begin with), and someone's finally subbing the old-school-ness that is Kindaichi Case Files. Higurashi no Koro Naku ni is shaking things up by melding cute harem girls with graphic serial murders. It's surprisingly creepy.

Got much dorama in exchange for beloved Swedish fish. Gokusen 2 copies way too much from the first season. That includes the OST. Too bad the main boy isn't as cute. Nobuta wo Produce has the best group of characters I've seen in a while. Shuji has a refreshing outlook on life (his willow tree fetish is really cute), Nobuko is the shy type, and Akira is just crazy. Like me. I understand him completely. Densha Otoko renews my faith in humanity. I feel so bad for the main character; he's such a nice guy and everyone picks on him. The girl he likes is really sweet; they deserve each other.

Right, back on track. I need to find a pic to color for a friend.

A lot ot the scans came out badly. I realized afterwards that you should put something thick behind the paper, because if it's a single sheet, then whatever's on the other side shines through. o.O It's okay, though, coz I can retrace it on the computer.

Edison from the crappy math/science detectives story that never was. Her real name is Liesel. She has a laptop computer with a lightbulb on the cover. She's adopted. I guess she's the lone wolf character.

Marie, also from the detective story. She's kinda arrogant and bossy. Knows how to fight. But she comes off as the cute girl, anyway. I hate her long pigtails. They always come out weird. Hey, look, you can see my history homework chart from the back.

Surprisingly clean scan. Throughout, you see very little consistency in character designs coz I never remember what I did before (it all gets stuffed into the dark recesses of my binder and is only found at the end of the year when I'm cleaning everything out.) Edison's hair is more curly around her face, for example. And her skirt is not that short.

There are two detective boys, Newton (the geeky main character) and Archimedes (the flirt/joker, real name Jun), but I don't like drawing boys very much. -_- They all end up looking girly.

inked!Luna. She looks cross-eyed. Yep. She's a sweet shy girl who gets abused. She cracks and goes psycho at the end, though. She's not from the same story as the detective kids.

inked!older!Meriel. My roommate tells me she looks evil. I guess she kinda is. Yah. She's really mean to people.

Meriel with her rival/counterpart/old roommate Summer. Summer is a tomboy character, but she was really cute when she was little.

Summer with her big brother, Zane. Summer is very protective of Zane. She gets angry when other girls talk to him. o.O

They have no feet. -_-

Haha. The boy harem parody that never was. I got so lazy that I never finished filling in the boxes. Yah. The main character, a girl named Nimeru, is surrounded by dysfunctional guys. The one she likes most, for example, turns out to be a girl.

Yah, I'm a bad student in that I draw on my papers during class instead of paying attention. It actually keeps you awake really well. And if no one's looking too closely, it looks like you're taking notes very intensively. ^^;
