...when I was walking out of my apartment building to my car yesterday, I had to cross 3rd street (at Prospect Park West). As I crossed the street, I slid a bit, so I looked down to see what I had stepped on. As I turned, I felt a crunch under my foot--then I saw it: A DEAD, RUN-OVER RAT!!!!!
That's right kids, I stepped on a roadkill rat carcass. YUCK!!!!! I jumped and yelled "ew! oh my god ew!!!!" like a teenage girl. It would have been hilarious to watch, but sucked for me.
EW.
And now I keep thinking about it. YUCK!
[Also, a note: I feel fellow New Yorkers will get a particular kick out of this because while there are tons of rats in this city--for each person there are 17 rats, or so I've heard--we rarely see them dead. For non-NYers, just FYI, the streets are not covered in rat carcasses and it is safe to walk around without contracting the Bubonic Plague. Although I wouldn't lick the street. Or sidewalk. Or anything, really...]
