Oh, they're all so grown-up and dignified here, Lee, Kara and Sam. And using Zak as a bridge of Kara telling Lee she's going ot leave Sam was touching and wonderful. :)
Your connection between scenes and time periods. The crumbs on the floor of Socrata and Dreilide's house and Kara talking about sharing crumbs in the very next scene. I can almost imagine that filmed.
The language. Carefully rendered and beautifully detailed.
The twisting of canon. It does, indeed, make me perk up and look around. Quite interested in where you spin this all out!
Other thoughts:
Character-wise, I'm still adjusting to the changes to Lee and Kara. They've both grown and matured over their year apart and you keep surprising me with their individual reactions. I'm waiting for Kara to run... and yet she isn't. I expect her to freak out about even the thought of marriage... and yet she's the one thinking it. Interesting alterations. I'm intrigued with whether I'll get more backstory on how that occurred, or if its just a simple matter of her growing up in the last year. I suppose I just need to keep reading to discover my answer.
I got a few other comments about their changes in personality and how they're so much more quieter in this story. It just sort of worked out that way for me, although they do have some bigger more canon-like moments coming up.
I wrote a lot of the flashback stuff ahead of the normal chapters and just kept saving them until I found a spot for them to work in. I'm pleased with the way it turned out, so I'm glad to hear you liked it! In hindsight, I wish I wrote more in depth flashbacks but I was afraid people wouldn't like them (I could imagine people being like 'ugh! flashback chapter again!' and skimming quickly through it or skipping it completely). They were some of my favorite moments though.

Sweetie. You write however you see them. Don't apologize for it! If I'd wanted canon, I would be watching the series again. I'm not... I'm reading this. ;)
Thanks for the kind words :)
Most welcomed and most deserved. I'm totally amazed by your word count combined with the the quality of writing. Bravo!
*frowning* I don't believe her. She's so mercurial, lied to Sam's face, believes in the sacraments, IDK. It's too fast and too simple. Damn. I really want to believe it, but I just don't. Please prove me wrong. :(

I really hope they are. **crosses fingers**
It's lovely to see this Kara acknowledge the denial and mistakes, and try to right them finally.
