Stupid Deer, a.k.a. You dumb buck!

So I had a rather exciting day today. I started off heading to Planned Parenthood, the site of my OB/GYN rotation, for a 12-8pm shift. As I was going up the road, I was rather displeased to find that a large deer doesn't look both ways when hunting season starts. He came across the road, gave me no time to react, and hit my car right on the corner where the windshield and the driver's side window meet. It then flew, according to witnesses, roughly 20 feet into the air before crashing into a ditch dead. My car also ended up in the ditch, with the driver's side window now scattered across my face, lap, and car. The windshield was shattered, but still intact, although it and the roof were dented in roughly a foot.

My face ended up a bloody mess, and my neck was a bit sore, so I was transported by ambulance to Albany Medical Center on a backboard. They cleared me medically, so the only problems I have are several lacerations on my face, left ear, scalp, and hands, along with quite a bit of stiffness and aching in my back. All in all, I was lucky. Apparently, the deer was a 9-point buck that was quite a bit bigger than the average deer.

So the long and short of it is that I have two days off for medical leave from my rotation, my face is a bit swollen and cut up, and my car may need to be either replaced or will need some heavy-duty repair.

But I'm okay, and it could have been worse. :P
