1. What did you do in 2015 that you'd never done before?Passed a probationary period at a permanent job. Got a raise. Participated (albeit half-assedly) in Union activities. Booked, attended, and paid for an appointment with a private medical practitioner. Saw not one but THREE gender identity experts and had them reach the same conclusion as each ( Read more... )

Glad to see the good things in the year! I think a lot of the stuck-feeling-bad things will diminish over time. (I'd like to be all "Yeah, six months from now, you'll have your absolute last episode of crushing misery, and after that, it will never get worse than ordinary sadness", but sadly, I don't control your fate. However I do feel confident in predicting improvements and more energy to do things you want.)

With music, I've always had random spates of intense interests that have very little to do with whether something's cool (or even recent), and then don't discover anything else new for months.

SOON. The sun will come back. Soon soon soon.

To be honest I've stopped even having those random spates. I have enough to keep me occupied while I'm walking around the city and I don't listen to music at home...

We're past the least sunny bit! We had a big party to celebrate and everything!

That makes sense. I'm embarassingly attached to music as part of the creative process.

I don't think there's anything embarrassing about that - we used to use Holst's Nine Planets for warm-up writing and one of my friends wrote his first full-length work by getting drunk and obsessively listening to one song over and over per scene. It's what works!

One of the actually-finished stories in that fairy universe came about from listening to "The Crane Wife" on obsessive repeat. (Yes, it is about a crane wife, and I've only just thought about how the basically-healthy views on love the human is advocating can be turned around into something she wouldn't like by the fairy boyfriend.)

A POTENTIAL SEQUEL?

VERY POSSIBLY! (I think that when it comes to the distinction between "That guy should give up the magical crane woman, even though she wants to be with him, because she'll be dead in a couple of years if he doesn't" and "I should make you magically immortal, even though you don't want that, because you'll be dead in less than a century if I don't", he'd be all "My version involves saving my beloved and getting to be together!" and she'd be all, "Um, no, other important differences!")

"what do you mean you want to make a decision for yourself?"

"You don't want to let people do self-destructive things that kill them, so why should I let you be mortal?"
