100 Works of Art: (Visual) Barberini Faun/Drunken Satyr100 Works of Art: (Visual) Self Portrait with Whip, Robert Mapplethorpe I would like to be someone else. Someone who is, coincidentally, cleverer and better looking and more sociable and who doesn't consider it a major achievement to manage a four-line conversation with a toothless man about his excited pitbull. Someone who likes either the right things or the things that so many people like that it doesn't matter if they're wrong. Someone who can get jobs would be a bonus but really someone who can just apply for a broader range of jobs because interacting with people continually doesn't drive them insane would be a start. Someone who hasn't funnelled themselves into becoming a hermit automaton. Someone who isn't more than 20 stone. Someone who deals with dissatisfaction through methods other than daydreaming. One of those people.
Today I am mostly a person who managed to find clothes that fit okay in Primark and kept unsettling people by being polite and saying please and thank you. Teenaged staff awkwardly saying "you're welcome" because idk no one else has any manners and it throws them? I don't know.
There, there's a question:
Are you surprised when people say please and thank you? Do you use these terms on strangers? Do you thank taxi drivers, wait staff, bar staff, etc?
